You will learn basic skills, get comfortable in a class setting, and complete simple, beautiful paintings that will help you to have confidence in this new world of oil painting. November 2006

Flower and Form in Oil Painting Workshop with Diane Rath
(visiting teacher from The Palette & Chisel, Chicago)
Monday-Wednesday, November 6 - 8
Tuition: $300.00 plus small shared flower fee
After studying techniques of the Dutch and Flemish Masters, Diane Rath created her own way to incorporate their methods of underpainting, glazing and scumbling into what would best serve her work and lifestyle. Diane would love to share what she has learned with you, believing it will open all sorts of new doors into how you can create regardless of the subject matter you choose to paint.

In this three-day workshop, the main emphasis will be on How to Paint Form - Understanding how light hits an object - it's beginning, how it travels, how it ends. When we understand the logic of it, then we can translate it into paint with clarity using our tools of color, thickness, value and edge quality. This will greatly enhance the confidence in how you see and share it with others. The subject matter will be flowers and will give you exciting new venues during the upcoming winter months and have you ready to share and sell in early spring when everyone wants to see flowers again! Good examples of this can be seen on Diane's website by mid July - the Peony Paintings under "New Paintings" www.dianerath.com
