Putney Library Book Group to Meet

The Putney Public Library book group will meet Sunday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. at the library to discuss "Into the Beautiful North" by Luis Alfred Urrea. Urrea will be speaking Friday at the Brattleboro Literary Festival.
The Nov. 20 book is "In Other Rooms, Other Wonders" by  Daniyal Mueenuddin.
All are welcome.

Summer Reading Party and Concert at the Putney Library

On Thursday, June 23rd at 11am the Putney Public Library will host its annual Summer Reading Party for kids of all ages. This year we are happy to present in concert local legend, musician, and storyteller Andy Davis performing on a variety of instruments and telling tales to suit our theme this year: "One World, Many Stories."

After the show we will be giving away free books and refreshments to all the children hosted in our beautiful backyard gardens. We will also have all the materials needed for anyone who wishes to sign up for the Summer Reading Program. So mark your calendars and bring a friend !! Putney Library Book Group to Meet

The Putney Library Book Group will meet Sunday, May 15 at 7 p.m. at the library to discuss Betty Smith's coming of age classic "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn."

Bring your childhood memories to share with this friendly, book-loving group.

Next meeting and book: June 19 "God on the Rocks" by Jane Gardam, another coming of age book, this one set in coastal England. Newcomers always welcome!

Putney Library Book Group

The Putney Library book group will meet Sunday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at the library to discuss "Born Under a Million Shadows" by Andrea Busfield, the tale of a boy's experiences in modern Afghanistan.

The book for discussion December 19 is "Tinkers" by Paul Harding.

Putney Public Library Poetry Readings

Two poetry readings at the Putney Library, 55 Main Street, Putney VT (802) 387-4407.

Thursday, October 20 at 7 pm New Hampshire poets Becky Sakellariou and Charles W. Pratt will read from their just released collections, Earth Listening and From the Box Marked Some Are Missing. About Becky Sakellariou's Earth Listening Sydney Lea writes, "We might describe this collection by way of one of it's titles, 'A Small Book of Grace.' Ms. Sakellariou herself has grace –never precisely religious, but is always lit from within."

New group at the Putney library

A Friends of the Putney Library is now forming. There will be a meeting at the library on Thursday, Oct. 14th from 7pm to 8pm.

Friends groups exist in libraries of all sizes, to support, promote and augment the resources of the library. Be a part of the library's future.

Create programs for all age groups, raise funds to enhance services and collections.
Develop special library projects etc, etc, etc.
Be with and have fun with others who share your love of libraries.

New at the library

"A man can wait for a long time with his mouth open before a duck flies in," is a Chinese proverb that impels us into action.

On Thursday, October 14th there will be a meeting of people interested in forming a Friends of the Putney Library group. Friends groups exist to support, promote and augment the resources of the library. Our library is a center of social and intellectual activity. Be a part of The Putney Library's future. Do programing for all age groups, raise funds to enhance services and collections, be and have fun with others who love libraries.

Putney Public Library Closed this Saturday

The Putney Library will be closed this Saturday, July, 24th in order to upgrade our catalog and circulation software. Our Wi Fi is always available 24/7 outside the building...and our beautiful new extended gardens behind the library are shaded and quiet. We will reopen Monday at 10:30 and hope to see you soon....
