Putney Public Library Closed this Saturday

The Putney Library will be closed this Saturday, July, 24th in order to upgrade our catalog and circulation software. Our Wi Fi is always available 24/7 outside the building...and our beautiful new extended gardens behind the library are shaded and quiet. We will reopen Monday at 10:30 and hope to see you soon....

The Putney Library book group will meet Sunday, July 18 at 7 p.m. at the library to discuss Abraham Verghese's "Cutting for Stone." New readers are always welcome. A new series of books will be selected for future discussion, so this is a good time to come with suggestions. Information: 387-5548.

Putney Book Group to discuss "The Gravity of Sunlight"

The Putney Library book group will meet Sunday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the library to discuss Rosa Shands' "The Gravity of Sunlight." The book is an evocation of ex-pat life in pre-Idi Amin Uganda around 1970. New members always welcome, whether they have read the book or not. The group will be making decisions about upcoming books and is looking for input.

Putney Native Molly Geidel Discussing New Book on the Sixties

On Friday, August 14, contributor Molly Geidel, along with editor Catherine Krull, will be discussing their book NEW WORLD COMING:THE SIXTIES AND THE SHAPING OF GLOBAL CONSCIOUSNESS at Everyone's Books in Brattleboro at 5:00.
Molly is currently completing her PhD in American studies at Boston University. She is writing about the Peace Corps in the sixties. She has been teaching courses about the sixties, the feminist movement, and American history at UMASS Boston and Boston University.

Putney Library Book Group

PUTNEY – The Putney Library Book Group will meet Sunday, June 14 at 7 p.m. at the library to discuss A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini.

Beginning with the July 19 meeting, the group will change its meeting day to the third Sunday of the month and welcomes new readers. The next book for discussion is Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri.

Kids book sale

Hi!!! We are having a kid's book sale on Sunday, May 24. There are all kinds of books to choose from, so please come! $1.00 for hardcovers, and fifty cents for paperbacks. The sale is at the corner of East Putney Falls Road and route 5 on the large burm. It will be from nine o' clock to noon. Hope to see you there!
