Putney School to build "net zero" field house

The Putney School is building a field house. It’s the third in a series of buildings intended to expand the student boarding population (Huseby House Dormitory), provide a home for our performing and visual arts programs and presentations (Michael S. Currier Center), and augment our student athletic programs and employee health opportunities (Field House). Check in here over the coming months to see how the design, planning and building progress. Next year we are having a veteran teacher from Thailand for half of the year. She will need 2 or 3 families to volunteer for home stays. If you would like to volunteer your hospitality, please contact Angela Walton ASAP for more information.

Sarah Levine Awarded Elaine Dixon Award

Sarah Levine, student at The Grammar School in Putney, was awarded The Elaine Dixon Award for Community Participation on May 28th. Peter Dixon, Elaine’s son, and Gus Dixon, Elaine’s grandson, presented the award, a plaque and monitory gift, to Sarah.

The Elaine Dixon Award for Community Participation celebrates the memory of Elaine Dixon who was a Putney resident, teacher, artist, mother, and grandmother, and who dedicated her life to nurturing and enriching the Putney community. The award is given twice annually to a young person who lives in or attends school in Putney, is in grades 4–8, and who engages in community service and represents the spirit which Elaine embodied.

Expanded Preschool Opening at Putney Central School

Putney Central School is pleased to announce that we are expanding our current preschool program. We are accepting applications now through June 20th for ten pre-K slots for the 2008-2009 school year. The program will operate on a school calendar year, weekdays from 8:45 AM to 3:15 PM and will be staffed by: an Early Childhood Specialist, a Lead Teacher, and an Associate Teacher.
