Romantic Comedy "Saving Face" at Putney Library

In celebration of LGBT Month, the Real to Reel Women Film series is happy to present a showing of the romantic comedy, “Saving Face,” at the Putney Public Library on Wednesday, June 26th, starting at 7:00 p.m. This is an R-rated movie, so adults only please! Admission to the movie is free.

Directed and written by Alice Wu, “Saving Face” is a delightful film about a young Chinese American lesbian, Wil, whose very traditional family keeps trying to match her up with eligible men. While she’s busy trying to keep her new lover secret from her family, she discovers her mother also has secret she’s been hiding!

Twilight on the Tavern Lawn presents The Stockwell Brothers Sunday, June 16

Twilight Music continues its 11th annual Twilight On The Tavern Lawn series of folk, world beat, rock, jazz, zydeco, Celtic, swing, blues and bluegrass summer concerts on Sunday, June 16 with newgrass and contemporary folk trio The Stockwell Brothers.  The seven concert series continues every other Sunday through August 25. All concerts begin at 5:30 pm in downtown Putney on the Putney Tavern lawn (bring a lawn chair or blanket) or at Next Stage at 15 Kimball Hill in case of rain. The series is sponsored by the Town of Putney, Putney Food Co-Op, Soundview Paper Company, The Putney Inn, Next Stage Arts Project, The Stockwell Brothers and many other Putney businesses and organizations.  The concerts are free to the public (donations are accepted) and food will be available. Garden Tour June 15th & 16th

Introducing Putney’s first annual Earth, Roots, Petals, & Paths, a tour of perennial and vegetable gardens on Saturday, June 15, and Sunday, June 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 each day. The tour is a benefit for the Putney Public Library and the Putney Central School Library.

Earth, Roots, Petals & Paths includes six private perennial and vegetable gardens in Putney, The Putney School gardens & farm, the Putney Central School garden & orchard as well as the renowned four-acre garden created by Theodora and Peter Berg on Rice Mountain with the assistance of Gordon Hayward, garden designer, and Dan Snow, dry stone waller.

Community Supper: Friday, June 14

Putney's HeartSong Health In Community hosts the June Community Supper which features an Indian-themed meal.
Dinner is served at the Next Stage dining room from 5:30-7:00 pm, and all are invited to enjoy!
A donation jar helps cover the costs of the meal.

Tuesday, June 18, 7 – 8:30 p.m., Putney Library

Dan Foster first tested positive for Lyme disease 22 years ago. This talk is about his odyssey with a super bacteria that he believes he will soon be rid of.

Though he was treated promptly after his tick bite bull’s eye rash, he has had a variety of symptoms over the last 20+ years, but was able to manage them all pretty well until last year.

Gentle Yoga at Putney Cares Barn

Gentle Yoga meets each Wednesday morning from 8:30am to 9:30 am. Classes focus on alignment, balance, self-acceptance and setting one’s own goals. Isometric and weight-bearing yoga exercises help increase strength and bone density, contributing to significant gains in strength and flexibility.

The class is taught by Eva Frank Greene, EMT, RYT-500. She instructed disabled combat veterans at Walter Reed Army Hospital for four years, and has worked with disabled students. Please contact the office for more information or to join the class 387-5593 or putneycares@svcable.net.
