Baseball: Fossils eliminated from CRVBL playoffs

The Brattleboro River Rats used a perfect suicide squeeze to break a 1-1 tie in the seventh inning and went on to defeat the Putney Fossils 5-1 in Sunday's Connecticut River Valley Baseball League playoff game. Brattleboro's Marty Vallender and Putney's Travis Watson were locked in a pitcher's duel for most of the game.

CRVBL Baseball: Putney hosts Brattleboro in playoff Sunday

The Putney Fossils finished in second place in the 2010 Connecticut River Valley Baseball League regular season. This Sunday, August 15, the local nine (more like 16!) will host the Brattleboro River Rats at 11:00 AM at Dummerston School Field. Please come out to support the Fossils!

Baseball: Putney rallies late (again) to top Brattleboro in CRVBL

The Putney Fossils and Brattleboro River Rats have played each other four times in the 2010 Connecticut River Valley Baseball League season and every game has been decided in the final inning. Sunday, August 1 proved to be another nail-biter as Putney eked out a late 4-3 victory.
Brattleboro's Kenny Sloat confounded Putney batters for nearly the entire contest with his looping curves and ultra-slow changeups. Putney's Richard Bissell scattered ten hits in his complete game victory, but found ways to get himself out of several jams.

Chester sweeps Putney in CRVBL, Bratt tops Ludlow

Chester 7, Putney 5 (Game 1)

The Chester Pirates jumped out to a 5-1 lead early and then held on to defeat the second-place Putney Fossils 7-5 in the first game of a twin-bill Sunday. Steve Brown returned to the Pirates to earn the complete game victory and helped his own cause with three hits, a stolen base, and a run scored.

K-6 Soccer Sign-ups - Putney Recreation League

Baseball: Putney rolls in CRVBL

Putney 10, Ludlow 0

LUDLOW - The Putney Fossils rolled to a 10-0 victory Saturday night over a depleted Ludlow Gold club behind Danny Lichtenfeld's stellar pitching. The hard-thowing righty threw a complete game, 2-hit shutout and struck out 12. Keith Hazard was the offensive hero for Putney, going 3-for-4 with a 3-run double and a total of six RBIs on the night. Quinton Carr (4 hits, 2 runs, RBI), Dave Guadalupe (two hits, double, 2 runs, RBI) and Joe LeBlanc (hit, 3 runs, 2 RBIs) also had good days at the plate.

Brattleboro rallies for first CRVBL win

The Brattleboro River Rats notched their first Connecticut River Valley Baseball League win of the season with an exciting 6-5 triumph over the Putney Fossils. The Rats rallied from three runs down to tie the game in the eighth inning, and then pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.

CRVBL All-Star Game

The Connecticut River Valley Baseball League All Star team will face the Southern Vermont All Stars at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 10 at Vermont Academy. The Southern Vermont team is made up of players from the Saxtons River Pirates, and teams from Windsor and Norwich.

CRVBL: Chester defeats Putney

The Chester Pirates solidified their hold on first place in the Connecticut River Valley Baseball League with a 6-1 drubbing of the second-place Putney Fossils on Sunday, June 27. Scott Renfro was stellar on the mound, scattering five hits over eight innings without giving up a run. He walked two and struck out 13.
